What's at stake

Mary’s Creek is not empty land waiting for a road. It is a living ecosystem—home to fish, turtles, frogs, birds, mussels, and countless other creatures. The creek has been recognized as having High Aquatic Life Use, and Fort Worth recognizes that riparian areas along streams are vital ecosystems. Councilman Michael Crain proposes to move and expand Old Weatherford Road into a four-lane elevated highway through this fragile habitat. A road can be moved; a natural habitat cannot. We should not destroy something irreplaceable when another path exists. Save Mary’s Creek. Protect the wildlife. Protect the water. Protect the habitat.
